Yellow Maize (Mealie) is great with most meals. It can be cooked fresh or dried and crushed to make samp or maize meal (Pap).
Maize will germinate between 10 and 30 degrees. Optimal germination temperature of 18 to 25 degrees.
Maize is best planted directly into the soil with spacing of at least 30 to 50cm between plants and 50 to 100cm between rows. Place 3 or 4 seeds per hole. This is known as multi-stalking and increases production per square meter. The guide below will give you more information:https://www.nda.agric.za/docs/infopaks/mealie.pdf
Minimum 20 seeds per pack.
All seeds are tested and grown on our farm in Malawi and our growing area in South Africa. Please check conditions in your area for the type of seed to be grown. Growth rates and germination times are dependent on many factors such as soil conditions, rainfall/watering patterns, climate and many more. Growth and harvest can be affected by these conditions. Please note that certain countries require specific permission to grow certain plants or ban their growth completely. Please check your local regulations before purchasing products. We will not be held responsible for products purchased that are not allowed in your country/province.
