Sweetcorn is a great addition to any meal. This variety grows well in many conditions.
Best sown directly into the final growing space, plant seeds 20 to 40mm deep about 150 to 300mm apart in rows. Rows should be at least 750mm to 1m from each other. Plant 3 or 4 seed per hole. Even if more than one germinates, they will all grow (multi-stalking) giving you a bigger harvest per square meter. Germination temperatures of 10 to 30 degrees, with 18 to 25 degrees being optimal.
In South Africa sow the maize seeds from August to March or even early April in warm areas with late winters and no frost. Sweet corn takes 10 to 12 weeks to reach harvest readiness if the weather is warm and conditions ideal. If the growing period experiences cooler temperatures, then the corn harvest can be delayed and could require up to 14 weeks. The flowering stage and formation of the tassels at the top of the plant take place at about 6 to 7 weeks from planting and harvest readiness is 3 weeks thereafter.
Minimum of 20 seeds per pack
All seeds are tested and grown on our farm in Malawi and our growing area in South Africa. Please check conditions in your area for the type of seed to be grown. Growth rates and germination times are dependent on many factors such as soil conditions, rainfall/watering patterns, climate, and many more.
Growth and harvest can be affected by these conditions. Please note that certain countries require specific permission to grow certain plants or ban their growth completely. Please check your local regulations before purchasing products.
